Introduction
Dimensional Embroidery has been my passion for many years. I
have used many techniques to achieve dimension in my needlework.
Stumpwork, which incorporates separate wired design elements to
create the dimension, is one of my favorites. I also use
wired edges on needlelace to create dimensional elements.
The many stitches of Brazilian embroidery are used, as well as
fused, painted and shaped silk flowers. Several of my
designs are worked on hand-dyed silk backgrounds, some are
worked on evenweave linen with pulled thread backgrounds, and some are
stitched on
photo printed background fabrics. I have been
designing and teaching dimensional embroidery for over 20 years.
I've been an active member of the Needle Arts Guild of Puget
Sound for over 30 years, the Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery
International Guild, Inc. since it's inception in 1992, as well as the
International Old Lacers, Inc., and Lacemakers of Puget Sound.
I strive to share the many dimensional embroidery techniques
and designs I've learned and created with others in the
form of books, designs, and classes. If you have a group
that would be interested in classes, please contact me.
Please look through the design pages to see what I have
created. I hope you will find something of interest and
decide to buy.
I'm trying something new to me now in 2010. I am
offering some designs as PDF files that will be emailed you upon
receipt of payment. You will find them now in the "What's
New" section. This is not an automatic emailing like the
Pay Pal confirmation. I must do it personally, so it
probably will take at least 24 hours, more of course if I'm out
of town. These PDF files will include full color photos of
the project, traceable design, and full instructions. They
are being offered at lower prices than the designs printed on
fabric and mailed to you. Not only do you save the extra
cost of the fabric print, but also the shipping. The down
side is that you must find and purchase suitable fabric yourself
and transfer the design to the fabric. File sizes should
be about 1 MB each. I'd really like to hear some feedback
from you on this new project. Do you like it? Do you
have ideas of how to improve it?
For the first time in years, I have found it necessary to
increase my prices on many of the design kits. This is due
to the increasing costs of the fabrics and parts that go into
them, as well as the time involved in assembling some of them.
You will find it even more cost effective to download the PDF
design files if you wish to save money.
Check out the instructions section for basic techniques and
stitches used in these designs. I will add to this
area as instructions are completed. If you have any
questions about products or embroidery techniques, I would be
happy to try to answer them.
This site is set up for sales through Pay Pal, and all your
financial transactions will be on their secure servers. If you
would prefer to print off an order form and mail it to me with a
check, a printable form is included. If you have any
questions about ordering, please e-mail me. My husband is
retired and we travel frequently, so there is no one home to
mind the business at these times. Please be patient if
your order does not arrive quickly. When I am home, orders
are filled within 24 hours; otherwise, orders will be filled
upon my return -- usually within 3 weeks or less.
